An newcoming online casino service provider named Gnuf decided they needed a big idea to get people flocking in worldwide. Something viral, that would really roll up a into a huge snowball. (Snowball. Haha.) Well, they found the idea, made it happen and got it rollin' (drum fill).

Giant dice. Rolling down from the crest of a huge, snowy peak, after being dropped by helicopter. And you, lucky interneteer (internettist? webber?) get to bet on what the final results will be.

Have a peak (chinng!) at some of the shots from the event at The World's Greatest Dice Roll.

Solo Mobile (0)

Monday, April 30, 2007 by , under , , ,

Talk about an awesome idea for launching the new Solo Walkie Talkie phone, courtesy of agency Rethink in Vancouver. They actually created signage featuring huge functional walkie-talkie phones which, when activated, transmitted from one bus stop to another, further away in the city. Seen in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

Kleenex Guerilla - Mexico (0)

Monday, April 30, 2007 by , under , , ,

Here's an interesting example of how well-applied guerilla marketing works better than traditional media: a campaign for special 180-tissue packages of Kleenex. "The package seems endless". A simple and powerful idea that most certainly didn't cost the price of TV or billboard ads, for something that'll get twice the gab power. Great work by JWT Mexico (whom obviously have audacious creatives and a very understanding media buying dept.)

As I write this, I'm certain that some media investors are already contemplating the potential of branding conveyor belt media, evaluating gross GRP return, building joint ventures with supermarkets and commercial centers and charging agencies "belt space by the foot".

Remember folks: if it happens, you read it here first.

The PlayStation Season (0)

Tuesday, November 28, 2006 by , under , , , , , ,

Earlier today, I was talking about Sony which started to roll down the "consumer experience" road with their marketing approach. I was hoping to see if they would act consistently on this decision.

Well, it appears they are. In concert with different recognized british art insitutions such as BALTIC, the V&A, the ENO, Sadler's Wells and the BFI, they have put together The PlayStation Season, a series of interactive artistic performance installations.

As they describe it on their site, "The PlayStation Season will create unique content that explores the PlayStation brand and its available platforms (PS2, PS3, and PSP). The contents produced across this programme of events will offer experiences beyond just being spectators, and or geographical boundaries. The content derived from these programmes of events is to be consumed and shared and passed on. In each execution there is not a static art exhibition experience. The audience will be encouraged to participate (for positive outcomes) - haha, funny they mention - in the exhibits. In many cases, audience participation is integral to the display."

This further reinforces their "Live in your world, play in ours" ideology, and their latest "play b3yond" PS3 capitalization. Check out their first installation, titled "Volume", which is made of a series of vertical light columns that interact with visitors' movements, producing a display of light, colors and sound.

Reports the CoolHunter: "The collaboration is between lighting designers United Visual Artists (UVA) and Robert Del Naja (aka 3D) of Massive Attack and his long-term co-writer Neil Davidge (as part of their music production company, one point six)."

VW: Guerilla (0)

Tuesday, November 28, 2006 by , under , , , , , ,

An actual chauffeur is waiting inside an airport for an incredibly large number of guests, thus proving that the VW van has vast interior space. Simple and undoubtedly remarkable guerilla idea for Volkswagen from Ogilvy, South Africa. (Thanks, AD Goodness!)

Accessorize: Necklaces (0)

Tuesday, November 14, 2006 by , under , , , ,

Intelligent and remarkable guerilla operation for Accessorize, a worldwide fashion accessory boutique chain, created by Saatchi and Saatchi. The featured example is in the streets of Geneva, Switzerlan (you can also notice the price tag on the necklaces: you'll actually find that item in the stores). If you guys don't know it yet, the most loved and awaited PS3 will hit the stores across North America on November 17. A teaser campaign has recently begun, titled "Play B3yond", which is currently hitting the NYC (corner LaFayettte and Bond).

Also, you can already feast your eyes on the recently released commercial for this upcoming launch, now available on AdKrispies. Featured soundtrack is An Ending (Ascent) by Brian Eno. The commercial is once again the work of crazy awesome agency McKinney + Silver. I bow in your general direction. Need kickass partners in Canada? Write me. Hehe. Shameless plug.

Ps3 coming. Better get those sleeping bags ready in front of your local electronics store now.

Krazy good ambient media for Mothers Against Drunk Driving from agency Calder/Bateman, Edmonton. MADD has this history of excellent advertising, and these moms truly sound like awesome and daring clients. The stuff dreams (and less DUI charges) are made of. (Thanks, Ihaveanidea!)

Simple and inspired guerilla campaign for this rock n' roll radio station in Oslo. Two stickers on a rock and BAM! It's becomes a speaker. Powerful. (Thanks, Marketing Alternatif!)

Ah, ah, ah, rock-solid. Ahem. Sorry about that.
